Infographic Graphic Designer

The Infographic Graphic Designer will be primarily responsible for assisting the Viral Media Coordinator with the development of infographics and other viral content for many clients to meet production criteria. The content and design of the infographic compositions must be modern, current, relevant to our client's industry, attractive, and accurate. The designer must be able to handle multiple projects at once, while developing various pieces for different clients. A team player is necessary to accommodate the many contributors to the creative development of the content, and to meet client needs and adhere to client procedural requests.

This is an independent contractor opportunity.

• Creatively develop a topic idea into a detailed concept that is useful, current, interesting, creative and appropriate for infographics
• Research various topics as assigned by the Viral Media Coordinator to assist in finalizing existing data research to be included in the design
• List all specific sources for the listed organized information, to be submitted by clients' compliance departments for approval
• Summarize research content by sub-sections, including specific sources of data, also organized by section, in a manner that will explain the details to be included in the piece.
Design
• Create wireframes and first designs that are thematically appropriate to the concept, representing the organization of the information, and the size of the sections within each piece. This is the first step of the design process and is intended to give the client an idea of the theme, style, texture, type of illustration, and layout of information to be expected
• Create complete design including completing the background with layers, depth, and texture variety throughout the composition. Using illustrations to represent metrics and measurements that are more creative than simple pie charts and bar graphs. Using icons where possible to minimize the use of excessive text and long paragraphs
• Summarizing long paragraphs and sentences into short point form statements in support of illustrations and icons, to add clarity to the message being put forth within the design
• Making edits, revisions, adding and omitting information within the piece, at any and all stages of design and development, as is necessary, following client communication, and in accordance with client feedback and requests
• Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned

Must possess ability to translate large amounts of data into a design that tells the best story, showcasing the client, without it being promotional.

Must work well under the pressure of deadlines.

Must be secure enough to accept creative direction and critique.

Must have ability to turn around revisions in a timely manner.

Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Illustrator).

Good illustration skills preferred.

Intermediary to advanced HTML, CSS and jQuery preferred.

Journalism education and/or experience preferred.
